Celebrating the life of
Charles (Buzzy) F. Weimar Jr.
September 09, 1946 - December 21, 2024
Charles (Buzzy) F. Weimar Jr passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness with Alzheimer’s Disease surrounded by his family.
A native of Savannah, Buzzy was born to the late Charles F. Weimar, Sr. and Mary Francis Weimar on September 9, 1946. He attended Blessed Sacrament School, Benedictine Military Academy and graduated from Savannah High School in 1965. After high school, he served in the 165th Air National Guard, as a Medic. He developed an interest in architecture and construction early in life, earning his architectural drafting diploma from Massey Technical Institute in Jacksonville, FL, in 1966. After spending a few years learning the construction business, he founded Weimar Construction Company in 1976. Through his commitment to quality and meticulous attention to detail on every project, Buzzy earned the respect and admiration of clients, colleagues, and competitors alike.
He was a member of the Forest City Gun Club and the German Friendly Society of Savannah. In 2022, he received an honorary lifetime membership to the Forest City Gun Club. Buzzy enjoyed life immensely; Friends, boating, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his dogs.
He was the life (and loudest) of the party and was famous for his crab stew. One of his favorite things was sitting on the back porch in his rocking chair and waving to boaters who passed by shouting “BUZZY”!!
Buzzy is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children, Elizabeth Weimar of Atlanta, Brian Weimar (Ruth), and Rebecca Moore (Craig), both of Savannah; his granddaughters, Peyton Moore, Reese Moore, Sidney Weimar, and Emmaline Weimar; his sisters Angela Orrel (Larry) of Jacksonville, FL, and Barbara Peterson of Savannah; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Max.
The family expresses their gratitude to the incredible caregivers, Kim Knight and Anna Gross for their support and care.
A private funeral service will be held.
Donations to the Hospice Savannah in memory of Buzzy Weimar would be appreciated.
We will miss Buzzy forever. He was larger than life and one of a kind. We are so grateful for the special times we had with him this year. So much love for you Joyce. So much. Prayers offered up for peace and healing.

Buzzy was one of the most fun guys to be around I’ve ever known. Many fond memories of going to the st Vincent’s father -daughter dance with our girls ! One of the few people I’ve known that EVERYONE liked . Keep ‘em Laughing up there good buddy !

Joyce, I'm so sorry to hear about Buzzy. I met him once when visiting Causton Bluff. He was so nice but very busy trying to catch up with his dog that loved to chase squirrels!
